Smart Healthcare: IoT driven Environmental Integration in EMR systems for Real Time Healthcare Monitoring
An Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is a digitized repository encompassing a patient’s exhaustive medical history, encompassing diagnoses, therapeutic interventions, and clinical data, structured for utilization by healthcare professionals within a clinical setting. EMRs enhance operational efficacy by enabling expeditious access to critical patient information, fostering seamless interoperability among authorized medical personnel, and supporting precise, data-driven clinical decision-making. Existing EMR systems primarily focus on managing and storing patient medical records, facilitating healthcare providers to access and update patient information efficiently, but often lack integration with environmental monitoring or real-time alerts. The proposed system integrates sensors for monitoring noise levels, air quality, humidity, and temperature in patient rooms, with real-time data displayed directly within the EMR interface. Additionally, the system features a mobile-optimized environmental monitoring alert app, providing a unified dashboard for the rapid delivery of critical updates on air quality, temperature, humidity, and noise levels, ensuring that healthcare personnel are promptly informed of any significant environmental changes. This integration of IoT with EMR technology enhances patient safety and staff response times, providing a seamless and responsive healthcare solution.
