Linux Dual Kernel System Based on Domestic Realtime Kernel
This paper aims to explore and address the real-time performance limitations of embedded Linux systems by introducing a dual-kernel architecture strategy, with the hope of significantly improving its real-time responsiveness. By integrating the ReWorks real-time kernel with the Linux kernel, an embedded operating system has been successfully achieved that combines both real-time responsiveness and extensive compatibility. The system utilizes an independent scheduler and interrupt handling mechanism based on the ReWorks kernel to ensure that real-time tasks are given high priority for execution. Meanwhile, with support from the integrated Linux kernel, it can effectively manage non-real-time tasks as well, achieving efficient cooperative operation in a multitasking environment. Real-time performance evaluation was carried out on the FT-2000/4 processor platform using the adapted Cyclictest tool to quantify system operational efficiency and stability. Experimental results show that the system can exhibit significantly low latency characteristics and high stability when facing diverse workload situations, fully demonstrating its suitability for real-time system environments with strict requirements for low latency and high stability. Future research will focus on deepening the understanding of system performance and adaptability in order to provide more optimized technical solutions.
