Development of a Wearable Biosensor System for Remote Monitoring of Physiological Parameters to Aid Prognosis and Diagnosis in Indigenous Medicine

Ayurveda, one of India’s most historic medicinal systems, promotes an excellent approach towards health and wellness by balancing three main bio-energies: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha (VPK). These doshas control vital mental and physical activities like mobility, digestion, and stability, and their balance is essential for good health. This paper presents a revolutionary haptics-based point-of-care remote monitoring solution that draws on Ayurvedic concepts as well as modern allopathic approaches. Preliminary investigations showed that thin-film piezoelectric pressure sensors could successfully acquire VPK pulse signals and capture specific waveform features for each pulse type. The possibility of combining conventional pulse diagnostics with current sensing techniques has been demonstrated. The system to be proposed aims at early diagnosis, lower risk of chronic ailments, and improved patient outcomes through the integration of conventional Ayurveda with high-tech allopathic treatment. This integration has the potential for a holistic model of healthcare blending the strengths of both worlds.
