Linear Controller Optimization for HORUS-2B Winged Re-entry Vehicle Using Simulated Annealing Optimization

An approach employing "simulated annealing (SA)" optimization for "re-entry" control is proposed for the HORUS-2B re-entry vehicle. The control strategy integrates a PID controller fine-tuned using SA methodology. This ensures that the control signal closely approximates an analogous reference signal while maintaining the system state in a predefined attitude. In collaboration with the navigation system, the "trajectory controller" determines reference vectors that will steer the vehicle along a predetermined route by managing its desired attitude. To ensure its efficacy, the "Simulated Annealing-tuned PID (SA-PID)" controller is evaluated against conventional "Proportional Integral Derivative (PID)" controllers. The design of the feedback controller takes into account structural parametric uncertainties and environmental disturbances. Utilizing a "Pulse Width Pulse Frequency (PWPF)" modulator, the "attitude controller" adjusts the thrust torque applied to the vehicle. Simulation results demonstrate the proposed approach's capability to meet various performance criteria.
