A Multi-Objective Approach to Allocate Distributed Generations in Distribution Networks by Using Ant Lion Optimizer
Distributed generation (DG) has become crucial for the distribution system due to the massive increase in energy demand and the tremendous benefits from DGs in technical and economic aspects. The network's overall voltage and power losses are profoundly affected by the size and placement of the connected DGs. This paper proposes a novel multi-objective Ant Lion optimization (ALO) algorithm to find the optimum size and placement of multiple DGs in a radial distribution system. The study aims to minimize power loss, enhance bus voltage, and improve voltage stability within the system's operational limits. The ALO and direct load flow have been entirely programmed and implemented on different sizes of radial distribution systems, including IEEE 33, 69 and 118 bus, for optimal allocation of DGs problem. Moreover, the application of fuzzy logic theory has been utilized to select the most optimal compromise solution from the Pareto optimal solutions. The simulation results were compared with other established algorithms to showcase their efficiency in identifying the best solutions and to establish their superiority over the competing algorithms.
