Predictive Modeling of Thyroid Disease Recurrence Employing Machine Learning Methodologies
In order to facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment, thyroid disorders pose significant health challenges that necessitate accurate predictive modeling. This investigation utilizes an extensive dataset encompassing demographic and clinical attributes pertinent to thyroid disorders. To prepare the dataset for analytical purposes, data preprocessing techniques such as feature normalization, encoding of categorical variables, and management of missing values are employed. Furthermore, exploratory data analysis (EDA) is conducted to uncover patterns and relationships among variables and their association with risk factors, utilizing a range of visualizations, including count plots, violin plots, and heatmaps. Subsequently, machine learning algorithms are applied to forecast disease recurrence, specifically utilizing Random Forest, XGBoost, and CatBoost classifiers. To enhance model efficacy, Randomized Search Cross-Validation is implemented for hyperparameter optimization. The findings reveal that the accuracy of the Random Forest classifier is 97%, while the XGBoost and CatBoost classifiers demonstrate accuracies of 98.70% and 98.70%, respectively. These outcomes underscore the potential of machine learning methodologies to augment the predictive accuracy of thyroid disease outcomes, thereby supporting improved clinical decision-making.
