Magnetic Control Transformer Combined with Thermal Power Unit Secondary Frequency Regulation Control Strategy
With the development of smart grids, the demand for frequency stability in power systems is increasingly stringent. The frequency regulation strategy for thermal power units employing Model Predictive Control (MPC) offers advantages in handling nonlinear systems, multivariable control issues, and constraints. However, even with advanced control algorithms, the inherent limitations of thermal power units, such as their substantial inertia and slow response, often result in their output failing to meet the secondary frequency regulation power commands output by MPC. The Magnetic Control Transformer (MCT), as a novel electrical device, possesses the capability to swiftly and smoothly adjust power system flows. Therefore, this paper proposes a joint control strategy for frequency regulation by leveraging the rapid response of MCTs and the stable output of thermal power units, aiming to enhance system frequency stability and response speed.
