A Single-Stage Switched Inductor Cuk Cnverter On-Board Low Voltage High Current DC-DC Converter for Electric Vehicle

This research proposes a novel solution in the form of a single-stage switched inductor Cuk converter, characterized by its remarkable step-down gain, low current stress, high efficiency, and reduced component count. The motivation for this research stems from the prevalent use of power electronics in battery charging stations, which raises concerns about power quality (PQ) issues, specifically harmonic pollution in distribution systems. The surge in battery charging stations in urban areas poses an elevated risk of harmonic levels, diminishing the lifespan of distribution transformers. To address these challenges, a comprehensive methodology is devised. The research commences with an extensive literature survey focused on Low Voltage High Current DC Power Supply topologies, emphasizing the incorporation of suitable control/modulation techniques such as Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC), Type 2 Fuzzy, Genetic Algorithms (GA), and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), coupled with Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS), Zero Current Switching (ZCS), and Zero Voltage and Zero Current Switching (ZVZCS). Following the literature review, the mathematical modeling and simulation of the proposed Low Voltage High Current DC Power Supply are performed using the MATLAB/Simulink environment. This phase aims to validate the theoretical concepts through simulation results.
