PROBLEM DOSADE U DRAMI „MASKA“ MILOŠA CRNJANSKOG
The paper deals with one of the few dramatic works of Miloš Crnjanski, the so-called poetic comedy The Mask, from the early phase of the writer’s creativity, which did not have a major impact, that is, which was suppressed and overshadowed by numerous other works of the author. The aim of the paper will be the revaluation of the mentioned drama. Since the motif of boredom appears a large number of times in the work itself, and grows into a kind of leitmotif, which is touched by almost all faces, it will be the backbone of the analysis. It will start from the question of how the phenomenon of boredom influenced the choice of time and place of action (Vienna, 1851), how much it determines each of the individual characters, and how much it influenced the content of the play itself and its internal composition. The hypothesis will be considered that Crnjanski anticipated the coming time with this problem in his drama, i.e., noticed one of the crucial phenomena at the very beginning of its creation, and became very close and contemporary to us, the generations of the 21st century, who are immersed in boredom at the most developed moment, in era when the entertainment industry has its absolute heyday. The paper also refers to the stage performance of The Mask, which the writer did not get to see in his lifetime.
