Intususcepcion colorrectal causada por un polipo colonico benigno. Reporte de caso y revision de la literatura

Objective: To report a case of colorectal intussusception caused by a malignant colon polyp at Clínica INDISA, associated with a literature review.Materials and Methods: Review of medical records to extract patient history and review of literature regarding the topic.Case Report: A 38-year-old female patient presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain. Abdominal and pelvic CT scan with intravenous contrast revealed colorectal intussusception secondary to a colonic villous adenoma. A mixed approach was decided, with colonoscopy for adenoma resection and laparoscopy for reduction. The patient had a favorable postoperative outcome. Biopsy results showed tubulovillous adenoma with high-grade epithelial dysplasia and well-differentiated intramucosal adenocarcinoma microfoci.Discussion: Colorectal intussusception is rare and typically associated with a lead point, either malignant or benign tumors. It can present with a wide range of symptoms from asymptomatic to straining, tenesmus, and defecatory obstruction syndrome. Management varies and may involve a combination of endoscopic and surgical techniques
