Vulvovaginal cysts: differentiation and management
Key content Vulvovaginal cysts present frequently in emergency and elective gynaecology, posing diagnostic and management challenges for clinicians, particularly O&G trainees. Despite their prevalence, there is a notable lack of comprehensive educational resources that classify these conditions anatomically and offer visual aids for their identification. The diagnosis of the type of vulvovaginal and perineal abscess or cyst can be challenging. Some studies utilise ultrasound characteristics to differentiate diagnoses; others classify cysts according to anatomical or dermatological features. Learning objective To accurately identify different types of vulvovaginal cysts using both anatomical classification and visual cues. To distinguish between various cysts and related conditions. To understand management approaches.
