Nanotechnology in Mechanical Engineering: Applications in Material Strength and Durability

The field of mechanical engineering undergoes transformation through nanotechnology due to its impact on material strength, together with durability and performance outcome improvement. Researchers produce high-strength composites and nanoporous alloys, together with nanolaminates, along with carbon nanotubes by conducting nanomaterial manipulations at the targeted scale. Modern industries, including aerospace and automotive, and structural engineering, now benefit from these advances because they generate lightweight, resistant, and durable components. The analysis investigates multiple mechanical engineering uses of nanotechnology, which include research on nanostructured materials and wear-resistant coatings as well as nano-enhanced concrete. The research evaluates the contribution of computational modeling and artificial intelligence to optimize nanomaterials by describing their predictive analysis and material synthesis functions. Implementation of nanotechnology meets significant challenges because of the obstacles that include scaling up manufacturing processes and reducing costs while addressing environmental concerns. Finally, the paper examines future development by stressing that machine learning, together with artificial intelligence, plays in maximizing nanomaterial research and expansion capabilities. The future advancement of mechanical engineering will occur through nanotechnology when it improves material structures alongside manufacturing workflows and industrial system applications. Nanotechnology advances through research and innovation will establish itself as an essential engineering solution that boosts mechanical system efficiency and sustainability.
