Directions of focus and resources of an enterprise strategic development

The concept of strategic enterprise development and approaches to understanding it have been examined. Strategic enterprise development is considered a specific type of development with its internal properties and as a process of strategy implementation. Using the concept of strategic positioning, the content of the notion of strategic development direction of an enterprise has been proposed. Various development direction options have been identified by applying a matrix approach based on selecting the enterprise’s internal or external environment for changes in the context of strategic development. These options include expansion into the external environment, modifying and/or strengthening the strategic position, expansion of customer audiences, qualitative internal changes within the enterprise in the form of developing new competencies and skills, as well as a combination of external expansion, customer base expansion, potential entry into new geographical market segments or customer audiences, along with qualitative internal changes within the enterprise. A characterization has been provided for each of these strategic development direction options, along with an analysis of the prerequisites for their selection. The concept of strategic enterprise development resources has been examined. Two groups of such resources have been identified: external and internal. The internal resources of strategic enterprise development include applied technology, know-how, equipment, human capital, management tools, and the company’s products. The external resources of strategic enterprise development are proposed to include raw materials, the customer base, the company’s reputation, established business relationships, existing market segments, and available technologies. A description of the impact of each of these resources on the course of strategic enterprise development has been provided. Keywords: enterprise development, strategic enterprise development, focus direction, selection prerequisite, strategic development resource.
