CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY INCIDENTS AND FREQUENCY OF INCIDENTS ACROSS DIFFERENT TYPES OF MACHINERY
Civil engineering machines play a key role in increasing efficiency and productivity on construction sites, but on the other hand, they sometimes pose significant safety risks to operators and individuals involved in construction works. To potentially reduce the number of accidents and injuries in the future, this paper will address the hazards associated with the use of civil engineering machines. These hazards can be divided into two groups - general and specific hazards. Given the fact that general hazards can occur unrelated to civil engineering machines, greater emphasis will be placed on specific hazards – namely, specific hazards during excavation and soil transportation, as well as specific hazards during concrete works. Additionally, this paper will provide an overview of injuries that have occurred during the use of certain types of machines, as well as statistics on injuries during specific operations on construction sites.
