Magnetic Properties and Structure of Sintered Rapidly Quenched Sm8.1Fe76.5V7.7Ti7.7 Alloys

Melt spinning is used to prepare a rapidly quenched Sm8.1Fe76.5V7.7Ti7.7 alloy, which, after annealing, has the coercivity Hc = 9 kOe. Bulk metallic permanent magnets are formed by liquid-phase sintering using the synthesized alloy and low-melting Sm80Ga20 addition. The magnets exhibit the coercivity Hc = 8 kOe. The effective magnetic anisotropy constant of the Sm8.1Fe76.5V7.7Ti7.7 alloy is determined based on measurements of the reversible magnetic susceptibility; it is Keff = 31.4 Merg/cm3 (3.14 МJ/m3). Results of the study of the phase composition and magnetic properties of the prepared alloys are reported. The suggested approach to the preparation of magnets is shown to allow us to avoid the decomposition of the Sm(Fe,Ti,V)12 phase during heat treatment.
