Research on Efficient Encoding and Transmission of 3D Video FOV Data Based on RTCP Improvement
This paper proposes an improved RTCP-based encoding and transmission scheme for 3D video to address the challenges of high bandwidth and real-time requirements. 3D videos contain large amounts of data due to multi-viewpoint and depth information, making traditional encoding methods inefficient for transmission. To solve this, a slice-based encoding algorithm is introduced, which divides 3D video images into multiple independent blocks (Tiles) and encodes/transmits only the visible areas within the user's field of view (FOV). This significantly reduces redundant data and lowers bandwidth needs. Additionally, leveraging the low-latency characteristics of RTCP, a real-time transmission scheme for FOV data is proposed. User FOV information is fed back to the server in real time, allowing dynamic adjustment of transmission content to optimize efficiency, reduce latency, and minimize unnecessary data retransmission. Experimental results show that this scheme reduces the average encoding bit rate by <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{7 - 1 0}$</tex> times compared to mainstream H. 264 encoding, and the WebRTC-based transmission scheme cuts delay by <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$0.7-0.9$</tex> seconds compared to the DASH scheme. It effectively meets the real-time interaction needs of 3D videos and provides new ideas for efficient 3D video transmission, enhancing immersive communication experiences.
