IoT-HealthGuard: Real Time Monitoring IoT-Based Healthcare System

The Internet of Things (IoT), one of the major technological advances of the last decade, has gradually integrated into all aspects of our daily lives. This technological advancement has captured the attention of the scientific community due to its vast implications for road safety and public health. IoT plays a crucial role by enabling continuous monitoring of patients with chronic illnesses, which helps to save their lives and reduce the risk of deaths. Furthermore, to enhance road safety, adopting the principles of the IoT and its extensions, known as the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), has become a priority for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). This paper proposes a healthcare system called IoT-HealthGuard. By leveraging these technological advances, the system provides drivers and pedestrians with means to detect anomalies related to chronic diseases using wearable sensors, as well as mechanisms to detect the occurrence of road accidents using vehicular sensors. Indeed, to offer drivers and pedestrians immediate emergency services, emergency messages are generated and sent to a Cloud server to request medical intervention by a nearby ambulance or a nearby safety professionals. The system is evaluated through simulations to validate its effectiveness and feasibility.
