Adaptive VIKOR for Used Car Selection Using Ideal References and Value Constraints

In this paper, we deal with Multiple Criteria Decision Making problems (MCDM) in the presence of subjective user preferences. Within this context, we propose to extend the VIKOR method to intgegrate within the same framework both adaptive ideal references and user-imposed constraints expressed in the form of intervals. In this new method, called VIKOR*, new normalization formulas that integrate user preferences are designed to consistently compute index scores. As a result, VIKOR* significantly improves VIKOR applicability, accuracy, and user satisfaction, making it a more powerful tool for decisionmaking in diverse and complex environments. An illustrative example of used cars selection problem is implemented.
