Pioneering Climate Change Adaptation: Sustainable Power Systems Enhanced by Integrated Satellite–Terrestrial Networks
The sustainable power (SPS) plays a pivotal role in driving the global energy transition by integrating and coordinating diverse renewable energy sources. Advanced communication technologies, particularly LEO satellite communication, serve as critical enablers for enhancing the operational efficiency of SPS. In the context of the emerging 6G era, integrated satellite-terrestrial network (ISTN) presents a transformative paradigm, enabling SPS deployment in previously inaccessible remote regions and facilitating fine-grained, real-time control. To fully realize these benefits, a comprehensive analysis of the roles, application scenarios, and potential of ISTN-enhanced SPS is essential, particularly in improving system stability, reliability, resilience, and intelligence. This study uses the data center within an SPS as a case example to illustrate the capabilities and advantages enabled by ISTN integration.
