A Simplification Approach to Developing Rehabilitation Robots
Through this paper, the authors summarize and con textu alize the cross-disciplinary challenges and potential solutions for designing and developing rehabilitation and assistive robotics. Design constraints were established regarding manufacturing materials and processes and electronic components for actuation, sensing, processing, and software platforms needed for the development process and exoskeleton replication. The resulting open-source exoskeleton design refers to a pediatric rehabilitation robot, a.k.a. ALICE, that showed good functionality with satisfactory pilot clinical trials.
