Design and Implementation of a Multi-Application Execution Manager for Train Control System

The traditional train control and management system (TCMS) uses independent control units to manage various subsystems, which has the problems of wasted hardware resources, high network complexity, and difficult system maintenance. In order to solve these challenges, next-generation train control systems introduce integrated platform software to realize the parallel operation of multiple applications on a single hardware platform to achieve the effect of hardware resource sharing and hardware-software decoupling. However, the default scheduling strategy, the Completely Fair Scheduling (CFS) mechanism, cannot meet the real-time requirements when designed and developed based on the Linux operating system. Considering the multi-application operation and resource management requirements, this paper designs and implements a multi-user program execution manager based on the Linux platform, which combines priority and execution cycle to precisely schedule the multi-user processes, ensure the timely response of high-priority processes, and optimize the system resource allocation to provide higher reliability and real-time support for the functional integration of the train control system.
