THE ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOUR (OCB) IN ENHANCING ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS AND EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) encompasses voluntary, discretionary employee actions that are not formally required but significantly enhance organizational effectiveness. This paper explores the critical role of OCB in improving employee performance, job satisfaction, and retention within contemporary workplaces. It emphasizes the importance of fostering a supportive organizational culture, effective leadership, and strategic human resource practices to promote OCB. Additionally, the study highlights how integrating OCB into performance appraisal systems and recognition frameworks motivates sustained discretionary behaviours. Insights on employee awareness and the contributions of policymakers and academicians in advancing OCB research and policies are also discussed. The findings underscore that nurturing OCB leads to healthier work environments, stronger interpersonal relationships, and enhanced organizational resilience, making it a vital component for long-term success in dynamic business settings.
