Experimental study of combined EICP-basalt fibre curing of fine powdered sand

Soil consolidation based on enzyme induced carbonate precipitation (EICP) is a green sand consolidation technology that has emerged in the field of geotechnical engineering in recent years. Compared with MICP method, EICP method is less susceptible to the constraints of environmental factors and cheaper in dealing with engineering problems. Aiming at the problem of small particle size of Yellow River fine powdered sand particles, small pore size, uneven distribution of EICP and low strength of sand column after EICP treatment, EICP slurry injection mineralization test was carried out by basalt fiber (BF) reinforcement method, and the indexes of porosity, compressive and flexural properties of fine powdered sand were systematically analyzed, and the mechanism of interaction between BF and fine powdered sand particles was investigated by SEM technology. The test results show that after the BF is added to the fine powdered sand, the pore between the sand particles can be filled and cemented under the mineralisation of EICP, and the BF can improve the pore distribution of the fine powdered sand and form a continuous pore channel, so that the EICP is more homogeneous in the sand column, which in turn reduces the porosity of the fine powdered sand and improves the mechanical properties of compression and flexural strength. The BF -EICP mineralisation method can inhibit the brittle damage of fine powdered sand and improve the seepage resistance of fine powdered sand, which has good application prospects and development potential.
