The Art of War Diplomacy: Angad\'s Encounter with Ravana
The dialogue between Angad and Ravana in the Ramayana serves as a classic example of war diplomacy, where strategic communication was used to assert dominance and seek resolution.Angad, as Lord Rama's envoy, employs persuasion, intimidation, and moral reasoning to convince Ravana to release Sita, highlighting the role of diplomacy before war. This paper examines the rhetorical and psychological strategies used in the dialogue, comparing them with classical and modern diplomatic principles.Ravana's rejection of peace and its consequences further illustrate the failure of diplomacy in the face of arrogance.By drawing parallels with historical and contemporary geopolitical negotiations, this study underscores the enduring relevance of war diplomacy. The analysis reveals that Angad's approach exemplifies assertive diplomacy, balancing negotiation with strength.Through this exploration, the research contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of strategic dialogue in conflict resolution across different eras.
