IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCY OF PIRALLAHI FIELD DEVELOPMENT

Forecasting hydrocarbon production and assessing remaining reserves are critical components of real-time monitoring and field development management. The accuracy of these assessments directly influences strategic decisions related to future development, optimization of economic recovery conditions, and implementation of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods. As new wells are drilled, the need for prompt assessment of remaining oil reserves arises. This supports production forecasting, economic justification of investments, and planning of measures to increase oil recovery. In modern engineering practice, various forecasting approaches exist, and their selection depends on the stage of field development and data quality. In later development stages, when sufficient geological and production data are available and reservoir-well systems have stabilized, methods based on displacement characteristics and production dynamics become particularly relevant. This article presents an assessment of recoverable oil reserves using current technological indicators, historical cumulative production data, and decline trends in flow rates. The study focuses on the Pirallahi oil field, one of Azerbaijan’s oldest offshore fields in the Caspian Sea, characterized by complex geology, reservoir heterogeneity, high oil viscosity, and significant water cut. Despite a high depletion rate, recent studies indicate considerable remaining potential. One promising EOR method for this field is the reapplication of in-situ combustion. Empirical forecasting methods provide timely production estimates and support optimization of late-stage field development and overall production processes. Keywords: oil production forecasting, development, productive horizon, production enhancement.
