Rowell’s syndrome
Skin involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus is diverse. Clinical presentation ranges from typical manifestations such as photosensitivity and malar rash to less common ones such as erythema multiforme (EM)-like lesions and life-threatening toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). Rowell’s syndrome is a rare disorder characterised by the association of lupus erythematosus (LE) with EM-like lesions. Despite being considered a distinct clinical entity, whether EM is a direct cutaneous manifestation of LE or the two conditions infrequently overlap is still unclear.
