ESPIRITUALIDADE, RELIGIÃO, RELIGIOSIDADE E DOENÇAS CRÔNICAS: UMA REVISÃO DE ESCOPO

Spirituality and religiosity have gained relevance in the health field due to their contribution to coping with illness and promoting patients' emotional well-being. In the context of chronic diseases, these dimensions can significantly influence how patients perceive illness and adhere to treatment. This study aimed to explore scientific evidence on the influence of spirituality, religiosity, and religion on the mental health and quality of life of patients with chronic conditions. A scoping review was conducted using articles available in the PubMed database, with specific descriptors in English. Of the 39 initially identified articles, 07 were included after full analysis. The findings indicate that spirituality and religiosity act as emotional protective factors, support treatment adherence, and contribute to more humanized care. The study also highlights the importance of health professionals’ training, especially nursing staff, in ethically and effectively integrating these dimensions into clinical practice.
