Selection of energy storage for an industrial battery locomotive

• The use of battery-powered locomotives at industrial enterprises is considered. The influence of operating conditions on the parameters of the on-board energy storage device is shown. The creation of an energy storage device for an industrial battery locomotive is considered. The use of lithium-titanium-oxide, lithium-iron-phosphate and lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt-oxide cells in energy storage devices is considered, and the parameters of the storage device are calculated for different types of cells. It is shown that it is necessary to take into account the operating modes when determining the parameters of an energy storage device. This makes it possible to optimise the mass and dimensions of the energy storage device. The economic aspects of choosing the type of cells for an energy storage device are considered. It has been established that with long service life of a battery locomotive, it is advisable to use lithium-titanium-oxide cells and lithium-iron-phosphate cells with a large number of discharge and charge cycles. With short service life, it is advisable to use lithium-iron-phosphate and lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt-oxide cells. The analysis can be used to create energy storage devices for rail rolling stock for various purposes, where it is planned to use energy storage devices as the main power source.
