Chemodivergent Sulfenylation of Trifluoromethylalkenes: Controlled Synthesis of Fluorinated 1,3-Dithioethers and β-Trifluoromethyl Thioethers
A solvent-controlled divergent synthesis of fluorinated compounds has been developed. In this protocol, fluorinated 1,3-dithioethers could be obtained via sequential defluorinative sulfenylation of trifluoromethylalkenes in the presence of MeCN, while a different hydrosulfenylation path for the synthesis of β-trifluoromethyl thioethers is easily achieved by switching the solvent to the combination of EtOH and MeCN.
