The Jalal Talabani's relationships with East Kurdistan's parties and groups (1991-1975)

This study examines the relationship between Jalal Talabani and East Kurdistan's political parties and organizations. Talabani is one of the most prominent Kurdish figures who has actively participated in modern history. He demonstrated leadership and intellectual abilities from a young age due to his early involvement in politics and culture. After founding the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in 1975, Talabani entered a new political phase in his life, fighting for the rights of the Kurdish people in South Kurdistan. From the beginning, the PUK maintained close relationships with East Kurdistan's parties and organizations, providing support in various forms, particularly in training and supplying weapons and ammunition. This support was evident even during the confrontation with the Iranian government in 1982. Simultaneously, Talabani had to navigate complex relations with the Iranian government, with which he was occasionally obliged to collaborate, especially from 1986 onwards. This period marked a turning point in Talabani's relationships until 1991. As a result of this research, the researcher concludes that Talabani maintained close relations with political parties and organizations in East Kurdistan while also maintaining ties with the Iranian government. He attempted to leverage this relationship to benefit the Kurds in East Kurdistan.
