Language Analysis of Film Scenarios Using Big Data and Strategies for Cultural Tourism
Purpose The purpose of this study is to identify the linguistic characteristics of action/adventure film scenarios through big data analysis and to propose specialized cultural tourism strategies for this genre. Unlike previous cultural studies that have largely relied on qualitative approaches, this study aims to empirically derive linguistic elements that can enhance box office potential by utilizing scientific and objective methods. Methods In this study, action/adventure film scenarios were collected and analyzed using big data techniques. The analytical process included text preprocessing and morpheme analysis, followed by frequency analysis, network analysis, centrality analysis, and CONCOR analysis to identify key linguistic patterns. Results The analysis of the film scenarios in this study resulted in the extraction of 6,783 words. Auditory elements, including ‘sound’, ‘breath sound’, and ‘music’, exhibited particularly high frequency and centrality. In addition, the CONCOR analysis classified these key terms into thematic clusters such as ‘military/security’, ‘crime/auditory’, ‘violence/conflict’, and ‘history’. Conclusion This study objectively identified the linguistic characteristics of film scenarios through big data analysis and proposed genre-specific cultural tourism strategies based on the analysis results. The findings revealed that the selection of high-impact vocabulary and key themes during the scenario planning and development stages plays a critical role in box office success. Therefore, this study emphasizes that a strategic approach to discovering and nurturing competitive scenarios is essential for policymaking and support systems within the film industry.
