Develop a Holographic Display for Medical Imaging, Allowing Interactive 3D Module Exploration
This project addresses the limitations of traditional 2D medical image visualization by developing and implementing an integrated end-to-end pipeline for creating animated holographic representations of CT scans. The system converts CT data to DICOM files, utilizes 3D Slicer for image segmentation, and leverages the PyVista library for custom 3D rendering and generation of rotational animations. This process yields a video output formatted via FFmpeg specifically for holographic compatibility. The resulting video is displayed using the accessible Vyomy 3D Hologram Projector app, creating a glasses-free, pyramid-mirror-based holographic effect. The key contribution is this complete, automated work-flow combining standard medical imaging tools with controlled 3D rendering via PyVista to produce animated visualizations suitable for low-cost holographic displays. This aims to provide medical professionals and researchers with an enhanced visualization tool, potentially improving the understanding of complex anatomical structures for applications like medical education and patient communication.
