An Improved Multi-peak MPPT Control Method Based on DE Algorithm

In response to the multi-peak P-V characteristics of photovoltaic arrays under local shading, traditional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) methods suffer from becoming trapped in local optima and requiring prolonged search durations. An improved multi-peak MPPT control method based on differential evolution (DE) algorithm is proposed in this paper. The DE algorithm is used to escape from local optima and converge to the vicinity of the maximum power, transforming a multi extremum optimization problem into a unipolar optimization problem, and using dynamic observation to stabilize the system at the maximum power. The simulation results have verified the correctness of the theoretical analysis mentioned above. In addition, the algorithm proposed in this article is applicable to various photovoltaic array P-V curves, which can accurately search for the global maximum power and reduce the possibility of falling into local optima, improving the power generation efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) systems under complex working conditions.
