Phase Selection Method for New Energy Transmission Lines Based on Impedance Compensation
The integration of converter-based power sources, such as wind and photovoltaic power, has altered the fault characteristics of transmission lines, rendering traditional phase selection methods ineffective. This paper analyzes the working principle of conventional sequence component-based phase selection and identifies the reason for phase selection failure in new energy transmission lines: the phase angle characteristics of the shunt coefficient change. Based on this analysis, a new phase selection principle based on impedance compensation is proposed by computing the system impedance at the reverse side and utilizing its characteristics. This method achieves accurate fault phase selection for new energy transmission lines. Theoretical analysis and simulation validate the proposed method.
