Fault location method of complex distribution network with distributed generation based on time ratio matrix

To address the challenge of fault location in complex distribution networks containing distributed generation, this paper proposes a double-terminal traveling wave fault location method based on time ratio matrix. By analyzing fault scenarios in main lines and T-connected lines, we construct a time ratio matrix under dynamic wave velocity. The method accurately identifies fault branches or T-node positions by correlating the arrival time ratio of traveling waves along different paths with line length relationships. Simulation results demonstrate that this approach effectively locates faults in branch lines, T-nodes, and main lines. Compared with traditional methods, it exhibits higher accuracy and robustness across various fault types. Notably, the method maintains reliable performance even when the error margin is set to 0.1, effectively overcoming line calibration errors and sampling frequency limitations. These findings validate the applicability and engineering value of the proposed method for complex distribution networks.
