Hybrid Wind Solar Energy System Optimization

The reliability of wind and photovoltaic (PV) systems is highly dependent on climatic conditions. On their own, these systems are vulnerable to fluctuations in weather and cannot guarantee a steady power supply without support from backup solutions such as batteries or conventional engine generators. When wind and PV systems are integrated with an energy storage component, their overall dependability improves significantly. Even with these hybrid setups, however, the battery bank has to be large enough to provide the energy demand for prolonged times of little wind and little sunshine. This emphasizes how crucial appropriate component sizing is for any hybrid power system (HPS). The system's cost-effectiveness, performance, and dependability are all directly impacted by the size plan. The conception and optimization of hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES) are the main topics of this article, which examines current developments in the use of renewable energy sources. In addition to the mathematical simulation of energy produced from renewable sources, it examines different approaches and optimization standards used to these structures. HRES is becoming more and more popular in the current climate of rising energy needs and concerns regarding the environment, particularly in off-grid or isolated environments. This paper provides a thorough examination of the most recent optimization approaches designed for isolated and a smaller scale energy systems, based on the body of current literature. A notable trend in hybrid energy system optimization is the emerging role of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI-based methods show great potential for optimizing system performance effectively, even in the absence of long-term meteorological data.
