Hosting Capacity Assessment for Distribution Networks with Renewable Energy Integration
The integration of high-penetration renewable energy sources (RES) exacerbates voltage violations and stability risks in power distribution networks (PDNs). Traditional hosting capacity assessment methods are insufficiently accurate due to their neglect of reactive power constraints and the nonlinear dynamics of power electronic devices. To bridge these gaps, a multi-boundary approximation framework is proposed, incorporating RES uncertainties and the control characteristics of Smart Soft Open Points (SOPs). Confidence intervals are employed to address source-load fluctuations, while a secondorder cone relaxation model of SOPs is integrated. This forms the basis for a novel boundary point identification model based on a multi-boundary point approximation approach, enabling precise quantification of PDN hosting capacities. Case study demonstrates significant improvements in accuracy over conventional quasi-static methods, offering a computationally efficient paradigm for assessing renewable energy integration limits while ensuring voltage stability.
