Enhanced Solar Power Utilization for EV Charging Stations Using a Reconfigurable Step-Size Fuzzy Logic MPPT Controller
Today's maximum possible utilization of solar power on electric vehicle charging stations is key to effective charging, especially under conditions like fluctuating irradiance as well as the load. The issue using conventional MPPT controllers was not sufficient or robustness was rather related with slow tracking speeds and potential in dynamic environments, hence this also led to suboptimal energy extraction and system instability. A reconfigurable step-size Fuzzy Logic MPPT controller is proposed, optimized for OCV, to eliminate the above limitations. A step-size of the MPPT using OCV is adaptively changed in real-time with the environmental changes and facilitates faster and more accurate tracking. It is implemented as an integrated system consisting of a boost converter along with a battery storage system and assures continuous and stable flow of energy to EVs as well as the grid. This solution improves energy efficiency, reduces convergence time, minimizes power losses, and ensures uninterrupted charging, thereby advancing sustainable solar-powered EV charging infrastructure.
