The electricity market clearing method takes into account the maximization of critical cross-section verification and the potential for demand-side regulation
Demand-side resources are widely distributed and operate in diverse ways. With the large-scale integration of new energy sources, demand-side resources have become one of the optimal choices for system regulation. Ensuring and promoting the integration of demand-side resources through market mechanisms has become a key task in the construction of the Chinese electricity market, particularly in the development of spot markets. The article incorporates the maximization of demandside regulation potential into the mechanism design of the electricity market and proposes a clearing mechanism triggered in the spot market when demand-side resources are abandoned. Building upon the general clearing calculation in the spot market, the bidding prices of abandoned energy units are adjusted. A second round of clearing is conducted based on the revised bidding information to maximize the potential of demand-side regulation. Additionally, the operational cross-section verification is incorporated into the clearing model to ensure that the clearing results meet the requirements for the secure operation of the system. The proposed market mechanism is validated using the IEEE 30 -node system as a basis.
