Diseases Identification in Timber Crops using Convolution Neural Network with High Accuracy
Contemporary timber identification employs image processing and machine learning techniques to examine and identify grain patterns. Conventional techniques for timber identification may exhibit subjectivity and susceptibility to inaccuracies. Several machine learning (ML) algorithms are used for the identification of timber based on grain structure, each offering unique capabilities in processing and analysing wood images. Deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks, demonstrate superior capability in the automatic recognition of complex patterns. CNNs are the most effective deep learning models for image-based timber identification. CNNs can detect even subtle grain differences, which leads to highly accurate identification of timber species. CNNs process the input image of timber grain through multiple layers of filters to detect local patterns (like knots, rings, and grain orientation). The network learns the distinguishing features of different wood species through training on labelled datasets. CNNs are highly accurate, capable of learning complex grain patterns, and generalize well to unseen timber species.
