Design and Development of IoT-based Automated Garbage Compression and Monitoring System
The problems of handling waste in urban areas, including full bins, late collection, and environmental pollution, necessitate new approaches that have not been the challenges of waste management in urban areas, such as overflowing bins, delayed collections, and environmental pollution, call for new solutions that have not been previously explored. This project focuses on developing an “Automated Trash Compactor with Alert System” to tackle these issues by automating trash compression and continuously monitoring waste levels in bins. It provides instant notifications when a bin is full. Designed specifically for municipal corporations, residential complexes, and other public spaces, this system fully automates garbage collection schedules while minimizing the need for manual intervention. Key innovations include three novel algorithms: DWLM for accurate tracking of waste levels, OCM to optimize bin usage when full, and SRO to reduce collection downtime. For proof of concept, this system has achieved a 98% success rate in detecting and managing waste levels. It is compact, versatile, and effective for use in environmental management and improving service delivery, greatly enhancing urban hygiene standards. This project presents an IoT-integrated mechanical design application with advanced data analytics to meet the demands of modern waste management. Considered before.
