Innovative NOMA System for 6G:Integrating RIS and Beamforming for Enhanced Efficiency and Scalable Connectivity
The advancement of 6G communication networks presents significant challenges in achieving high reliability, enhanced capacity, and energy-efficient connectivity. This paper introduces an innovative NOMA-based framework that integrates Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) with beamforming techniques to enhance power allocation in multi-user environments. By modifying wireless propagation conditions, such as fine-tuning phase shifts and reflection properties—RIS strengthens signal reception and minimizes interference among users. Simultaneously, beamforming optimally distributes power, ensuring efficient and directed transmission. The proposed combined RIS and beamforming system significantly enhances performance over standalone RIS or beamforming techniques. It achieves a 21.4% increase in spectral efficiency compared to RIS-only and a 13.3% gain relative to beamforming-only. Moreover, it delivers a 13.3% improvement in energy efficiency compared to the beamforming system, indicating higher data throughput with lower energy consumption. In addition, it provides a 3 dB gain in SINR,improves power allocation fairness by 6.7%, and reduces latency by 5 ms. Analytical modeling and simulations validate its effectiveness, demonstrating the potential of RIS-assisted beamforming to overcome NOMA limitations, enabling scalable, energy-efficient, and high-capacity 6G networks.
