Satisfaction in the Teaching Profession: What Really Matters?
This study examined the predictors of job satisfaction among secondary school teachers in the Department of Education, Philippines utilizing regression analysis. Of the three (3) sub-variables of well-being which are subjective well-being, mental well-being and financial well-being and the three (3) sub-variables of school culture which are school characteristics, school cohesion and school emphasis, it was found out that mental well-being and school cohesion are the predictors of job satisfaction of secondary school teachers. Findings highlight the importance of addressing teachers' mental health and fostering a cohesive school environment. However, other unmeasured factors also contribute to job satisfaction. The study provides insights for administrators and policymakers to develop strategies supporting teacher mental well-being and school cohesion. Recommendations include implementing mental health support programs and conducting further research on additional job satisfaction factors across different contexts.
