Cross-cultural Leadership and Gender Equality: A Pathway to Sustainable Development
Achieving gender equality, as emphasized by Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5), is critical for sustainable development and global organizational success. Despite the proven benefits of gender-diverse leadership, cultural and systemic barriers persist, limiting women’s representation in leadership roles. This study examines the role of cross-cultural leadership in advancing SDG 5, emphasizing the importance of inclusive practices that address gender biases and intersectional challenges. Employing a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, the study synthesizes insights from recent peer-reviewed literature to identify key themes, including the influence of cultural contexts on leadership styles and the role of transformational leadership in promoting inclusivity. Findings reveal that tailored, culturally aware leadership strategies can mitigate systemic barriers, fostering equitable opportunities for women in global organizations. The study highlights actionable strategies for policymakers and corporate leaders to promote gender parity, advancing both organizational and societal outcomes.
