Fénix diplomático: embajadas y embajadores en el teatro de Lope de Vega
This paper offers a survey of the topic of diplomacy in Lope de Vega’s plays, starting with a systematic examination of the presence of embassies and ambassadors in a corpus of 30 comedies. Purposes of the study are: 1) to draw an overview of Lope’s diplomatic poetics, 2) to delimit the different types of diplomatic-dramatic paradigms, and 3) to assess the function and meaning of diplomatic sections according to different criteria (chronological evolution, editorial layout, genres and subgenres, characters and themes, romantic and political value).
