Vertebral canine myxosarcoma with neurological signs treated by vertebroplasty and radiotherapy (<i>in a dog</i>)
Abstract Canine myxosarcomas are an uncommon group of tumours, with therapeutic modalities still under research. This case report describes a vertebral myxosarcoma in a 5‐year‐old, mixed‐breed dog causing pelvic limb ataxia. Diagnostic modalities included computed tomography and histopathology. Our therapeutic strategy included decompressive surgery, vertebroplasty, cementoplasty and radiotherapy. Follow‐up at 1 month post‐surgery revealed a favourable outcome. Nevertheless, the owners chose to euthanase the dog 6 months post‐surgery due to a decline in locomotory function and neurological status. This case report presents an opportunity to outline various surgical options for managing vertebral tumours and discuss the role of cementoplasty and radiotherapy.
