PHYSICAL, CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS IN WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF THE RIVER UNA (REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA, B&H)
In order to estimate the water quality of the middle and lower parts of the Una River, an analysis of physical, chemical and biological parameters was carried out. When it comes to physical and chemical parameters, the water quality mainly corresponds to the II quality class or good ecological status. Such a condition was also pointed out by the results of microbiological analyses, as well as saprobic indices determined on the basis of phytobenthos, periphyton, macrozoobenthos and ichthyofauna, which indicate β- mesosaprobic waters. The composition and coverage of aquatic macrophytes indicated the slowing down of the flow. These studies indicated the satisfactory water quality of the Una River, but also the importance of monitoring of this still preserved and very important aquatic ecosystem.
