IMPROVING ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH DISTAL OCCLUSION USING AN ALIGNER SYSTEM
Introduction. Orthodontic treatment of patients with distal occlusion using aligner method is associated with risks in complex cases of significant disturbance of dental parameters. Modern approaches to treatment with aligner systems dictate the need for careful treatment planning and plan correction. Aim of the research. Statistical description of changes in parameters characterizing the dentition to identify the limit of acceptable changes. Materials and methods. A retrospective study statistically analyzed the treatment results of 193 patients with distal occlusion who successfully underwent orthodontic treatment using the aligner method. The group of patients included both men and women. Changes in parameters characterizing the dental arch were assessed: arch length, sagittal gap, incisal overbite, excess. Results. Descriptive statistics of changes in all parameters characterizing the dentition are presented. Conclusion. Improving the quality of treatment with the aligner system consists of comparing changes in the parameters characterizing the dental arch with the value of the third quartile of the corresponding parameter. Exceeding the third quartile signals dangerous changes in the dental arch and the need to adjust the treatment plan.
