Band Gap Tunability of Manganese (Mn) Doped ZinC Oxide (ZnO) Thin Film Nanoparticles

The optical properties of Manganese (Mn) doped ZnO nanoparticles prepared by chemical bath deposition technique at different molarities have been reported. Average particle sizes of Mn doped ZnO are found to be 33.4 nm, 35.2 nm and 22 nm at 473K at molarities 0.025M, 0.05M and 0.1M. Due to calcinations at 523K average particle size increased to 48 nm, 57 nm and 32 nm at the already mentioned molarities. The band gap of the prepared nanoparticles is calculated using UV-Vis Absorption spectroscopy. The band gap is found to decrease with increase in molarity as well as with increase in calcination. Because of different doping percentages the band gap of ZnO nanoparticles are decreased which may be applied for tunning of band gap of ZnO nanoparticles with Mn doping and can be applied for designing of various devices.
