Demonstration of WebRTC-based Video Conferencing with Tactile Sensations
With the increasing demand for high-resolution and immersive media experiences, conventional multimedia streaming has focused predominantly on audio and video only. However, these media forms alone are limited in delivering full sensory immersion. This paper presents a novel WebRTC-based video conferencing system that extends traditional media transmission by incorporating real-time haptic feedback using Bhaptics haptic devices. Our proposed system, implemented using WebRTC’s data channels, facilitates the simultaneous transmission of audio, video, and haptic data, creating a more engaging and interactive user experience. We demonstrate the functionality and performance of this system through various user scenarios, showcasing its potential for applications in entertainment, education, and beyond.
